Articulate Rise Software Simulation
Tech Tool eLearning
The Analysis
After working with Articulate Rise, I found there were a few features that weren't as intuitive as others. I decided to create an interactive software simulation of one of those features: adding an interactive button.
The Process
After walking through the process of adding interactive buttons in Articulate Rise, I began writing the storyboard in Google Docs. Once the storyboard was complete, I took screenshots with SnagIt and began recording audio files which were enhanced via Audacity. After I had my media files ready, I imported them to Storyline and began building the simulation with interactivity to increase learner engagement and recall. I also updated the course to include close captioning, a transcript, alt text, focus order, and font contrast considerations for enhanced accessibility.
Results and Takeaways
What surprised me the most about this project was how much I enjoyed moving it through the analysis, design, and development process! I loved coordinating what screenshots would work best with the script while also considering how I could make this project as accessible as possible.
If I revised this (or made something similar) I would consider utilizing screen recording more; although it was a fun challenge to simulate the screen "scroll" utilizing layers.
I have shared this with the Instructional Design community, and I have received good feedback, particularly from a multi-media developer who used similar scrolling interactions for one of their client's projects.
