The Blank Page
There have been so many times in my life when I could not take the blinking cursor on a screen or the lined emptiness of a journal even if my typing fingers or pen were eager to do SOMETHING creative.
Can you relate?
So what do you do when you are in that situation?
One thing I consider is what I call the “I vs the Eye”.
We often write/create from personal experience which means we often put the “I” of ourselves into our writing, even if we are focused on fictionalizing and trying to be objective
But I want to make sure you think about the “Eye” of interpretation as well.
The “Eye” is the meaning, so to speak. It is the value you put into a thing, moment, memory etc. that made it stick in your memory. The “Eye” is the interpreter. The “Eye” has the opportunity to be more subjective.
Want to put an extra wrinkle into this?
What does it mean to brainstorm or otherwise consider AI during your creative endeavors?
How will you balance the use of “I” vs “Eye” in your writing or creative projects?
